We believe that:
- The Bible is God’s inspired Word: The Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man: the infallible rule of faith and conduct and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason (2 Tim. 3:15-16/ 2 Tim. 3:16, 17/ 2 Peter 1:19-21/ 1 Pet. 2:2).
- There is only one living and true God who eternally exists in three persons- Father, Son and Holy Spirit- who are equal in their divine perfection. (Psalm 90:2 / Matt. 28:19 / John 14:16, 17).
- Man, his fall and redemption: Man was created by a special act of Godin the image of God of the purpose of glorifying God. Man was created good and upright – for God said, “Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness”. But man, by voluntary transgression, fell and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Gen. 1:26-31; 3:1-7/ Rom. 5:12-21/ 3:10-12).
- God so loved the world that He provided salvation for many through Jesus Christ who voluntarily offered Himself on Calvary as a perfect sacrifice for man’s sin and established a new covenant between God and man. (John 3:16, 17 / Luke 22:20 / 3:13 / 1 Tim. 2:5, 6).
- Jesus Christ rose bodily from the grave, He ascended into Heaven, He acts there now as our mediator and He will return as King. (Luke 24:36-43 / John 20:10-31 / 1Tim. 2:5 / Rev. 1:7; 22:12-14).
- Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary; thus, He is true God and true man. (Luke 1:27,31,35 / 4:4).
- Faith in Jesus Christ is nurtured by the Holy Spirit and is essential to receiving God’s free gift of salvation. (John 16:13-15 / John 2:20-23).
- Each individual is free to follow Jesus Christ according to his or her conscience under the authority of the scriptures. ( 14:3-12 / Matt. 7:1-5 / Matt. 25:31-46).
- Salvation comes only by the grace of God.(Romans 3:23,24 / Ephesians 2:1-10).
- God commands His people to evangelize their world by sharing the good news of salvation. ( 3:17-19 / Matt. 28:18-20).
- The Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper: We believe in the Sacrament of Baptism by immersion as a testimony of a convert who has attained a responsible age of about 15 years. (Infants and children are not baptized but are dedicated to the Lord). We believe in the participation in the Sacrament by members who are in full fellowship (Matt. 28:19-2/Mk. 16:16/ Lk. 22:19-20).
- Baptism, Gifts and Fruit of the Holy Spirit: We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit for believers with signs following; also in the operation of the gifts and the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers (Mk. 16:17/ Ac. 2:4/ 1 Cor.12:8-11/Gal. 5:23).
- Tithes and Offering: We believe in tithing and in the giving of free-will offerings towards the cause of carrying forward the Kingdom of God. We believe that God blesses a cheerful giver (Gen. 14:18-20; 10-22/Mal. 3:6-10/Matt. 23:23/ Ac 20:35/1 Cor. 16:1-3/ 2 Cor. 9:1-9).
- Divine Healing: We believe that the healing of sickness and disease is provided for God’s people in the atonement. The Church is, however, not opposed to soliciting the help of qualified medical practitioners (2 Kgs 20:20-22; Matt. 9:12; Lk. 10:34; Col. 4:14).
- Human sexuality: We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance (Gen. 2:24; 19:5, 13; 26:8-9/Lev.18:1-30/Rom.1:26-29/1Cor.5:1;6:9/1Thess.4:1-8/Heb.13:4).
We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman (Gen. 2:24; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 7:10; Eph. 5:22-23). - Sanctity of human life: We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. We seek to uphold and preserve the sanctity of all human life (Job 3:16; Ps. 51:5; 139:14-16; Isa. 44:24; 49:1, 5; Jer. 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke 1:44).
The Tenants of Faith do not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We do believe, however, that the foregoing Tenants of Faith accurately represent the teaching of the Bible.
